Taste your way across the continents with this Cooking Through Geography curriculum. Designed for students of all ages, this short text curriculum brings parents and students together in the kitchen. Many cultures are focused around food and the table and this program can open doors for you to share your table with friends and family in a similar way.
Although not every country is represented, you can visit each continent through the 43 countries that are used. The author has tried to keep the recipes as easy as possible with ingredients that are readily available in the grocery store. Most recipes are gluten free and many can be made dairy free as well.
The student will focus on learning how to read recipes by copying the paragraph from the book into proper form in their own notebook. They will then answer questions about the country and add the answers to the page for that country. A map is included that allows the student to colour in the country as it is studied.
This is not a complete geography curriculum but would work well as a supplement to another course.
