My Father’s World is a homeschool curriculum designed for Pre-school to Grade 12.  Perfect for families schooling multiple grades together, MFW integrates the Bible into every subject, taking your child through the entire Bible three times before they graduate. 

The program is divided up into three distinct levels. The first is DISCOVER. This is designed for Preschool through Grade 2 and focuses on the foundational areas of learning such as math, phonics, and faith. 

The middle level is INVESTIGATE. This level is intended to cover grades 3 – 8 in a cyclical style. No matter which of these grades you first start My Father’s World in, you start with the first book – Exploring Countries and Cultures. Then you work your way around the five – part circle until you reach high school where you move to the next level.  Other than the first book about geography, the rest of the series focuses heavily on history, starting from creation and moving through to modern times.

High school is known as DECLARE. It has four levels and also focuses on history and literature. This level also offers coaching as an add-on, where your student can meet bi-weekly with a mentor and stay connected through an online platform for support – although parents are still responsible for grading and teaching.

This curriculum integrates elements of multiple homeschooling methods:  Themed unit studies, hands-on projects, Classical division of learning levels, and Charlotte Mason’s love of quality literature and living books.

    The perfect fit for our family

    We have been using MFW for 5 years (Preschool to 3rd Grade Exploring Coutries and Cultures) and we absolutely love it. We were looking for a curriculum that was Christ-centered and missions focused and found MFW to be exactly that. We were also torn in between Charlotte Mason and Classical methods, and MFW combines both in a way that you get the best of both and the methods have proved to be beneficial for our children.

    Pros

    • The curriculum is Christ-centred, with a biblical worldview and standpoint for every subject.
    • You can teach multiple grades together with the same subjects/theme for each grade level after first grade.
    • Their approach is very gentle, which we love, and if you are a person who prefers an open and go curriculum with not much prep on your part, this curriculum is perfect. I love how I can look through the week's schedule on a Sunday evening and prepare any extras we may need for activities in the week, because they are usually items that are readily available at home.
    • Most curricula that I have looked at have leaned either too much on reading great living books (some that you may not even get through in a year) or not enough. MFW gets the balance just right for us and has what they call a book basket, which is an extra book list of books for each week that you can check out at your local library, these can be read-alouds or free reading for kids. You place them in a basket for the weekly reading in your own time.
    • The customer service is great! The staff at MFW are helpful and supportive, they even call to pray with you for your homeschool!
    • The lessons are short but impactful, which is great for little kids and their attention spans, with plenty of time for hands on activities, outdoor play and exploration in the afternoons.
    • It cateres for multiple learning styles.
    • You can add your preferred Math an Language arts instead of what is prescribed.

    Cons

    • If you have a large age gap between your children and plan on keeping some of the books and teachers manuals for younger ones,the curriculum gets updated after a few years and student sheets and some books may not be compatible with new updated manuals. I like that it gets updated but wish at least the changes wouldn't require new manuals but rather additional sheets to add to old manuals.
