This video-based, “open and go” program uses real questions from real kids to get exploring with short 5-15 minute lessons followed by hands-on activities to help kids discover the answer to the question.
Intended for K through grade 5 classrooms, Mystery Science is also available to homeschoolers. Unit topics are designated based on general age range – covering all kinds of different areas of science.
You just watch the video, gather the supplies needed for the activity, and then give it a try. Some lessons have a wrap up video after the activity, and all seem to have extention ideas to add in other content – reading suggestions, additional videos, field trip ideas, etc.

Mystery Science
My kids love Mystery Science. Very engaging with high interest topics. We love the selection of short videos, especially if you’re pressed for time. The lessons are clear, easy to understand and follow. My kids always enjoy the activities and online quizzes. The only complaint is that my kids are getting older and sadly this curriculum is only suited for up to grade 5 (though I’ve used it past that grade level, as my kids have Autism and learning challenges).
