Progeny Press is an award-winning literature curriculum for grades K-12. Available in either print or as a pdf download, study guides were created based on quality literature, many of which are award winners. The Study Guides include background information on the novel, literary and critical analysis questions, vocabulary, activities, and more. Not all books are Christian and parents should familiarise themselves with the stories they choose for their students before using.
Most middle and high school study guides take about 8-10 weeks to complete and students can finish 4 a year comfortably. This allows the high school student to receive 1 credit per year as a literature course (each course is assigned ¼ of a credit).
Comprehensive Book Exploration!
Progeny Press is where I start for comprehensive literature material for nearly every popular classic book. Whether you want elementary or high school level, there are books from so many genres! We’ve used Mr Poppers Penguins, The Bears on Hemlock Mountain and Miss Rumphius. Some of them were available to be interactive—typing answers into the pdf, but we didn’t use that method wanting it to be more group oriented. The discussions were great. There was a lot of scriptures and character concepts worked in. The only thing I wish it had more of were hands-on activities. Especially since it’s a unit study and for younger kids at times.

Great Option for Literature study
We have used Progeny Press for many years. We have done their programs at the Gr 4 to high school levels. We’ve probably done at least 8-10 of these studies. They are very well done and thorough. There is a wide selection of books to choose from. I like that they come from a Christian perspective. I like that there are options for print or digital where you can type in the answers. I like that they are reproducible within your family which helps with what I consider a fairly high cost. They are more thorough and well done in my opinion than some other programs. I would prefer more hands on activities. I like that there is a choice for projects. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for literature study from a Christian perspective.
