Just want to get to the Schoolio Reviews? Click here.
Schoolio is a 100% Canadian curriculum created for homeschooling parents in Canada. This curriculum covers grades K through 8 and is secular-based. They have created a program that has been specialized to follow provincial outcomes for most provinces, especially in their social studies and science units – although some things may differ slightly.
Complete grade bundles include math, language, science, and social studies. Parents can also choose to create their own grade packages through the unit studies available rather than choosing a complete grade kit. Lessons include discussions, activities, and review worksheets. Mini-units for novel studies and themed units are also available.
The program has been created to work alongside with the workbooks of Complete Canadian Curriculum books from Popular Book Company – available at stores like Chapters/Indigo, Walmart, and Costco.
Hourly tutoring is available on a month-to-month basis if desired.
New in 2022, Schoolio is preparing to launch an online version of their program. Find out more in the video below.
Hit and miss
This curriculum has a lot of issues. We found errors and then there are many confusing bits, like the grade 6 curriculum relying on the grade 5 level Canadian curriculum books. Which was frustrating since we had already done all of those and it made the lessons we paid for redundant. It relies heavily on the Canadian curriculum books as a supplement. Another frustrating thing I found was in a lot of Science lessons it gives you episodes of shows to watch, but good luck finding some of those unless you have every streaming service invented. I got it on sale so the price was good. I appreciate how it is layed out and scheduled for you, however when used as scheduled it only took us from September to February, so not really a full year curriculum. We did supplement it with other things. I will use it again next year as I got it halfway thru the year when there was another sale and that was before we had more issues with it. I don’t think I will purchase again.

I bought the Grade 1 Complete curriculum and we completed it this year. I found some subjects to be way too advanced. It took the fun out of learning and teaching.
I think maybe this curriculum isn’t suitable for a first grader who wants to play or do hands on activities more than sit still.
The special interest units are great to use as a supplement for your unit studies if you’re looking for content.
For price point this curriculum is affordable. I did buy it on sale. So keep an eye out for their their promotion codes.
I won’t buy the complete curriculum again, but might consider single subjects or units.

Very Flexible
We recently purchased from the new website- the upgraded search features are really helpful form the old site. For those who commented earlier, the Complete Curriculum books are no longer a part of the program so you don’t need them anymore.
The math is quite advanced, but my understanding is that it follows gov’t expectations so I think the gov’ts maybe expect too much from little kids! We ended up adding in extra math work from other sources to help my kids really get the concepts.
I love that you can buy all the units individually- this was really helpful for my one dyslexic kiddo bc she needs a grade lower in Language than in other subjects. We could also pick the science and social studies topics my kids are actually interested in- one kid got 3 different grade levels of animal sciences and 8th grader chose a bunch of different wars for their social studies- WWI and WWII, the American Revolution, the Cold War, etc. Lots from the American electives but whatever, as long as he’s happy learning, lol.
It’s super affordable, especially if you get sales, and really easy to use.

Disappointed
I bought the grade 8 English full curriculum. It appeared to be a great price as we choose the printed version, paid a little extra for that option but was cost effective. When we got it I was immediately disappointed as the books were bound but also included the answer keys ( not at the end of the book but throughout the workbook), so I had to sit there sorting through it all and re-coiling it myself. The work in it was not at all within my expectations for daily tasks for this grade level, My son was finished them in 10mins. Some pages were tops 4 questions, Other pages were confusing and had no lead up lesson or direction to it. Some pages were “just filled” meaning ice breaker questions that had no relevance to the unit. The book studies were not at all studies. My child was not at all challenged with this curriculum which lead to boredom and lack of interest. We ended up stopping and not using. I would not recommend of buy again. I feel it was a waste of our money but a lesson learnt in some sense.
